crystal kay - boyfriend pt ii vs. gwen stefani - luxurious1

gossip - standing in the way of control vs. rolling stones - gimme shelter

Do I want to know how the mashups would sound?

1The former explains why the latter is also on my hd, though it was unconscious at the time. >.>

For some reason my dad had a 4gb nano, so he gave it to me.  I received it with mixed feelings, since I hate iTunes, but I've since discovered that I can use it with winamp, so all is well with the universe. :D

Spent a few hours culling from 44gb of music, though I still have some space left, which is good, surely.  There's quite a lot of utena music on it, but very little final fantasy—too hard to figure out what is what (whereas utena merely has 8 albums to sort through! :D;;;)

I had a weird moment when I reacquainted myself with mitsumune shinkichi - hana no nai bara, but when I relistened to kajiura yuki, emily bindiger - aura they didn't seem so similar in retrospect?

Also, I was talking to [info]sub_divided about mgmt - kids earlier, and I said I thought it was about environmentalism.  It was mostly due to the chorus

Control yourself
Take only what you need from it
A family of trees wanting to be haunted

and not so much the verses.  Also, "kids" in the sense of "think of the children! and how we must preserve the environment for their future!"

This was kind of an off-the-cuff impression though, and not something I've actually reasoned out. XD  subdee thinks it's giving the band too much credit to be singing about a cause, but I don't consider it very much credit at all?  I guess I just kind of associate indie-style bands with college students, who are usually kind of casually liberal.  It blew my mind that some music blogger interpreted arcade fire - my body is a cage as a tract on how people have been corrupted by the superficialities of the world today and how they should embrace spirituality and God and reject the evils of gay marriage.  Or something along those lines. o.O

(... if arcade fire actually were <left blank as an exercise for the reader>, that would be, er, even more disturbing.)

Bonus: sara lov [arcade fire] - my body is a cage

Oh, so I saw the wrens and amazing baby last night; amazing baby (who I'd at least heard of before) were pretty meh, but the wrens were better, and the company was excellent. ♥
